Job Description

Keysight Technologies, the world's premier measurement company, has an opening for a Semiconductor Fab Process Development Engineer at the High Frequency Technology Center in Santa Rosa, California. Live in beautiful Sonoma County amongst vineyards, redwood forests, rivers, lakes and coastline while working on state-of-the-art ICs and devices.



Process Development Engineers at HFTC are responsible for process development and sustaining of custom, cutting edge, micro and nano-fabrication technologies for high performance microwave and millimeter-wave applications. The technologies include InP and GaAs-based HBTs, HEMTs and other electronic components which enable key competitive differentiation of Keysight's industry-leading RF, microwave and high bit rate instruments.



The focus of this position will be on plasma dry etch, PECVD, wet etch, wafer thinning, Die Fab, & related processes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Work closely with other process, integration, product, and circuit design engineers to define process and device performance targets
  • Define process flows, develop new dry etch, PECVD, wet etch, wafer thinning processes and drive continuous process improvement (CPI) efforts to maximize product yield
  • Ensure successful transfer and maintenance of new technologies in manufacturing. Project objectives will encompass performance, reliability and manufacturing goals.
  • Work with Operations Group to implement robust process control and support production processes; diagnose and resolve process problems
  • Lead capital equipment acquisition projects that include tool evaluation, characterization, process development, and qualification
  • Participate in R&D activities to develop new unit processes for future technology platforms. Facilitate transition of semiconductor product design and enhancements to full production/delivery.

Job Qualifications

M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent experience.


  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in plasma etching, plasma deposition, wet etch, and other related processes.
  • Experience with advanced semiconductor processes and devices is required and specific skills in III-V semiconductor processing is preferred.
  • Experience with statistical process control and design of experiments is a valued qualification.
  • Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills for successful inter and intra-group interactions.
  • Must be highly motivated to accomplish all the tasks required to meet aggressive product development schedules and world class manufacturing expectations
