Supply Technician

The Supply Technician performs a broad spectrum of logistics duties including inventory management and control (50% of the time) and purchasing (50% of the time). Major duties include:
Responsible for requirements analysis, managing, coordinating, controlling, purchasing, monitoring, and accounting for a variety of Prosthetic devices and services to support the San Francisco VA Medical Center and Ukiah, Eureka, Clearlake, Santa Rosa, Downtown San Francisco, and San Bruno Community Based Out Patient Clinics. Oversees supply management at or within prescribed levels and establishes or adjusts supply levels and reorders points using standard fo1mulas and prescribedprocedures. Conducts market research on product pricing and performance. Plays a key role in the standardization of inventory items. Identifies inventory items that offer the greatest potential for standardization and serves as the using services point of contact for product evaluations. Researches inventory discrepancies to identify and correct inventory accuracy problems. Extracts data from IFCAP and PIP and reconciles computer records to manual records and physical inventories. Independently identifies needed changed to inventory processes and makes appropriate changes based on findings. Serves as the central point of contact and exchange of information for the customers relative to any acquisition, material management and accountability, issues in all assigned areas. Physical Requirements:
The work is administrative in nature requiring the physical inspection, coordination and monitoring of merchandise and storage environments at different locations. Requires walking, carrying, stooping, bending, and reaching while inventorying, receiving, and stocking the areas assigned. The incumbent may lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment by Storage & Distribution workers. Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note:
Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Tour of Duty:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
managing procurement processes, coordinating the receiving and delivery of supplies, and controlling a variety of tasks pertaining to supplies and equipment required to support a service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
