Social Work Coordinator

The position is responsible for VJO activities in the following counties:
Sonoma, Humboldt, Mendocino, Napa and to provide coverage in San Francisco and Marin counties as needed. The goal of the program is to provide support and treatment services to justice-involved Veterans so that the Veterans either are diverted from incarceration or are assisted upon release to avoid becoming homeless or re incarcerated. The VJO Social Work Coordinator practices social work in a community setting where he/she facilitates integration back into mainstream society for individuals that are involved with the local criminal justice system. He/She is assigned administrative responsibility for clinical program development and is accountable for clinical program effectiveness and modification of service patterns. The incumbent is assigned to work with special patient populations with highly complex health or mental health problems. Work Schedule:

1. U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. 2. Education. Master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. 3. Licensure. For the GS-12 level, you must be licensed or certified by a state at the Advanced Practice Level which included ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless you are grandfathered by the state in which you are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice.) NOTE - Must have a current, valid state driver's license. Grade Determinations:
GS-12 Social Worker Program Coordinator. In addition to the basic requirements for employment, Social Worker Program Coordinator or Manager must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs below:
1. In-depth knowledge of the program coordinated, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. 2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. 3. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. 4. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and evaluate assigned program area(s). 5. Ability to provide training, orientation, consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of practice. References:

The physical demands of this position involve primarily walking, sitting, talking, driving, use of the telephone, etc. Strenuous physical activity is not required although the incumbent is expected to withstand pressure and stress as part of their day-to-day activities. There is ongoing exposure to individuals having psychiatric and physical illness and disabilities. These include violent or aggressive behavior and chronic psychiatric and medical problems. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
