Mechanical Engineer, Position Overview:
Responsible for the mechanical design,development, modification, evaluation and analysis of complex mechanical,electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical components, subassemblies and systems.
Has technical responsibility forplanning and conducting technical projects or phases of projects and maycoordinate the efforts of technical support personnel as required.

Designs, fabricates, modifies and evaluatescomplicated and difficult mechanical and electro-mechanical components,sub-systems and systems.
Prepares design specifications, analyses andrecommendations for presentation and approval.
Diagnoses complex interference, malfunction andperformance issues in existing products and makes improvements or modificationsto produce desired results.
Consolidates results of mechanical designelements for assigned projects.
Coordinates the efforts of drafters/designers,engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel as required by assignedprojects.
Conducts independent technical investigationsinvolving the origination or modification of material, component or processspecifications and requirements.
Writestest procedures, evaluates test data, and prepares technical results.
Analyzes,develops, and recommends design approaches to meet production requirements fornew or improved products and/or processes.
Completesdocumentation and BOMs to support planning, procurement, fabrication andinspection of new or improved designs.
Transitions designs to production with product billof materials (BOM) and manufacturing documentation.
Providessupport for product development and proposals for conceptual CAD layouts andcosts estimation.
Interfaces with optical, electrical, and systemsengineers, providing engineering analysis (structural/thermal) and CAD designfrom product inception to released fabrication drawings.
Develops test plans and procedures for designvalidation.
Provides support of material procurement byinterfacing with suppliers/fabricators.
Providessupport to manufacturing for mechanical issues.
Provides support of existing product designsthrough the production cycle by incorporating engineering change orders(ECO).
Supportsthe company's ISO quality system by assisting in the development of qualitysystem documentation (as required) and follow internal process to ensure properconformance to established policies.

Basic Qualifications & Education:
Education BSME(Masters preferred) or equivalent training/experience.
Experience 4 years of related experiencewith B.S. Degree; 2 years with M.S. Degree.
SolidWorksmodeling and drafting experience.
Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning andtolerancing.
Broadproduct design knowledge.
Knowledgeof manufacturing methods.
Understanding of machine design and theory ofmechanisms.
Experienced in thermal design considerations.
Experienceusing MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Mathcad, TK Solver, Matlab.
Basicmaterials selection knowledge.
Knowledgeof linear finite element (FE) stress modeling.
Electronics packaging knowledge.
Advanced shock and vibration analysis and designfor fatigue knowledge.
Knowledge of mechanical part fabrication processesand heat transfer.
Experiencein designs using DC motors, gears, bearings, and flexures.
Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5.
Experienceusing FEA or CAE tools.
Knowledgeof 3D CAD modeling and drafting using SolidWorks.
Understandsthe processes and checkpoints required to efficiently introduce new products.
Mustbe a US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR.
