Human Resources Assistant

Veterans Resource Centers of America is a community based veteran's service agency with a 40 year history of providing veteran programs. We strive to engage veterans and their families in a process of healing and growth that celebrates their individuality, identifies all barriers to success, mitigates those barriers, and challenges each participant to live to their utmost potential. With fifteen (15) Resource Centers across Northern California, Northern Nevada and Northern Arizona, we are focused on the complex realities of veterans issues and work diligently to design innovative programs, which respond to the diverse needs of veterans and the community. The Human Resource Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties directly related to human resources and executive support activities. The Human Resource Assistant reports to the Director of Human Resource.
Job Duties:
o Develops and maintains classified personnel records system
o Assist employees in sign up/applications for benefits, including COBRA issues
o Checks references, running background checks, compiling data and preparing routine and special reports
o Maintains data base of all employee accidents and processes and maintain records of all Workers' Compensation files
o Assists with necessary research for successful wage and salary administration
o Manages agency database, trains new employee's on database
o Manages employee education
o Coordinate with accounting staff employee status change, job title change, and termination action.
o Administer ongoing staff training
o All other duties as assigned
o Working knowledge of federal and state employment regulations
o Strong customer service skills
o Proficiency with a PC
o Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
o Ability to type 40+ wpm
High School or equivalent degree (i.e., GED); Some college completion in Human Resource Management preferred. Two years of full-time equivalent work experience in a contemporary office environment; reliable transportation. Veteran Status Preferred.
Job Requirements:
Physical ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods, lift 25 lbs., and stand for extended periods. Typing speed of 40+ wpm.
Part-time temporary position (3 months); $15/ hour, flexible working schedule; VRC is an EOE

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
