Responsibilities:
Job Responsibilities of Automotive Technician:
Assisting technician mechanics in performing technical activities.
Diagnoses and repairs to specifications - brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.
Adequately explains technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis.
Continuously learns new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
Keeps store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
Maintains an organized neat and safe bay.
Qualifications:
Technician 1
Student or Graduate of an Automotive Tech school or Community College Program
Performs basic maintenance and automotive service including:
Courtesy Checks
Lube, Oil and Filter
Basic Maintenance, air filters, batteries, wiper blades, Serpentine Belts, etc.
Mounts, Demounts and Balances tires including Large Diameter wheels (up to 22) and Low Profile Tires (LPLD)
Properly rotates and balances tires
Performs Flat Repairs including Large Diameter wheels and Low Profile Tires (LPLD)
Resets TPMS systems
Technician 2
Minimum one year experience and/or graduate of an Automotive Tech school or Community College program
Performs Courtesy Checks and Complete Vehicle Inspections
Lube, Oil and Filter
Basic Maintenance, air filters, batteries, wiper blades, etc.
Mounts, Demounts and Balances tires including Large Diameter wheels and Low Profile Tires (LPLD)
Performs Flat Repairs including Large Diameter wheels and Low Profile Tires (LPLD)
Resets TPMS systems
Performs Focus Services
Brake Flush, Coolant Flush, Trans Flush, Fuel Injection Service
Performs Alignments on most cars
Performs Basic Brakes (Disc and Drum) on most cars
Removes and Replaces Parts; Steering and Suspension, Brakes, Engine, Drive Train, Heating and Cooling systems.
Ability to obtain an ASE or has passed test 1 ASE in Brakes, Steering and Suspension, or Electrical Systems but may not have the required two years work experience.
Technician 3
Performs Courtesy Checks, Complete Vehicle Inspections and Diagnosis of Tire, Brakes, Steering and Suspension, and General Repairs.
Proficient in all Phases of Tire Mounting, Repair, Balancing, and TPMS systems
Proficient in all Focus Services
Diagnoses and Repairs Brakes, and ABS systems
Diagnoses and Repairs Steering and Suspensions
Diagnoses and Repairs basic engine and drive train systems
Minimal comebacks
Passed ASEs in both Brakes and Steering and Suspension
Maintains productivity above 100%
Senior Technician
Performs Courtesy Checks, Complete Vehicle Inspections and Diagnosis of Tire, Brakes, Steering and Suspension, and General Repairs.
Proficient in all Phases of Tire Mounting, Repair, Balancing, and TPMS systems
Accurately Diagnoses and Repairs Air Conditioning Problems
Accurately Diagnoses and Repairs Cooling System Problems
Accurately Diagnoses and Repairs Battery, Starting, and Charging System Problems
Minimal Comebacks
Three ASEs in Brakes, Steering and Suspension and Electrical and Electronic Systems, Air Conditioning or Engine Performance
