SCHEDULE:
205 work days per calendar year including professional development, Regular School Year (RSY), and Extended School Year (ESY).
Follows the Santa Rosa City Schools Academic Calendar.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND
Experience:
Demonstrates ability to organize, prioritize, and deliver a variety of instructional strategies.
Expresses ideas and concepts clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.
Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with school districts, students, teachers, staff, and parents.
Broad background, extensive knowledge and practical application of principles, practices, methods and strategies applicable to students with emotional disturbances, history of trauma, and/or mild to moderate disabilities.
Personal qualities of leadership, integrity, fairness, optimism, self-confidence, and persistence.
Knowledge of interagency relationships and effective methods of program coordination.
Knowledge of laws, codes, and regulations as they relate to special education and the IEP process.
Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not mandatory.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
Mild to Moderate Special Education Credential preferred.
Applicants who do not have a Special Education Credential may qualify for a permit to begin teaching while completing an intern credential program.
Essential Functions:
Prepare, track, and provide direct academic instruction and services to students.
Case manager for each student's academic goals and objectives as outlined in their Individual Education Program (IEP), that includes reporting all applicable information in IEP meetings.
Ensure present levels, progress reports, transition services, and proposed goals are accurately uploaded into SEIS, a web-based system that allows centralized, online access for writing IEPs, managing Special Education data, CALPADS reporting, and service tracking.
Develop transition plans to support students identify and participate in targeted educational and career activities, and development of life skills.
Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide a thorough assessment and diagnostic process for an individualized instructional program.
Maintain up-to-date, accurate reports, records and files on individual students.
Assist in identifying, developing and implementing appropriate use of resources for instructional application.
Maintain effective working relationships with parents, school personnel, and other agency staff and provide information and support to parents and families when appropriate.
Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students, while adhering to all applicable laws, codes, and school district policies.
Perform related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 25 lbs (supplies) Prolonged sitting and working on a computer and telephone.
